My texture modded and improved lighting version looks and plays way better at 4k without needing rtx for better visuals. The sad thing for quake 2 is even with rtx on HIGH and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ framerates it doesn't look miraculous to me at all. That Star Wars demo is publicly available btw. besides, there are games such as Metro and Control with incredible ray tracing effects. You've never been disappointed by new technology? It's not false advertising, but just your poor understanding of ray tracing and completely unrealistic expectations. When you false advertise - consumers who bought into the new technology for a ♥♥♥♥-ton of money are perfectly allowed to express their disappointment. On LOW rtx settings, after quite some time to optimize further, it's just hard to believe my high-end system still can't even come near 60fps on an old-school game that's not super demanding with just LOW ray tracing added. Then, there's quite a big delay for hardly any games to even use ray tracing at all for those that supported nvidia and the 2080ti's at launch. Originally posted by Luka fan:Well, when nvidia shows that amazing star wars demo with ray tracing - then the expectations are instantly pretty high. Q2RTX is meant to be a glimpse at the future of rendering, not the best possible showcase of how RTX can and should be used today. Nvidia's always been clear that for now at least the hardware RT technology is intended to be used alongside traditional rasterization, rather than replacing the latter outright. You've never been disappointed by new technology? What false advertising? Q2RTX uses full path tracing, so almost every aspect of the visuals is done through ray tracing, even with GI set to low.
